Statement on the passing of the Honourable Murray Sinclair

CPSM extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing former judge and Senator Murray Sinclair.

As the Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, Senator Sinclair played a crucial role in revealing the painful truths of the residential school system and its impacts on Indigenous Peoples. He did so with compassion, kindness, and humanity. He challenged all to learn from the past to do better and inspired many to answer the 94 Calls of Action.

We honour him through our commitment to reconciliation. He was a leader in education and reconciliation and we often reflect on his words and work in these areas to guide us as we continue toward healing and restoring the harm medical care has caused Indigenous People.

CPSM joins the country in mourning this profound loss.
