Election Update: nominations

March 25, 2026 |
CPSM Council News

A Council election will be held April 16 to May 5. The nomination period was held from February 5 to March 5. We were pleased with the uptake in self-nominations for the following positions:

  • Two positions for a registrant whose primary practice location is in Rural Manitoba.
  • One position for a registrant whose primary practice location is in Winnipeg.
  • One Associate Registrant (residents, physician assistants, and clinical assistants) position on Council. This position is elected annually.

When is the election?

The election period will run from April 16 – May 5, 2026.

Watch your inbox: electronic ballot, candidate bios, and voting instructions will be distributed to registrants on April 16, 2026.

Two changes are taking effect for elections this year:

1. New Electronic Voting System

This year’s election will be managed within the CPSM Portal. The election will still be electronic and completed within the portal, just as the nomination process was. This change will not impact the confidentiality of the election. It allows us to manage the election process more efficiently.

2. Change to electoral districts

Two other changes will take effect in this year’s election process:

                             I.        Four electoral districts become two

We are transitioning from four electoral districts (North, West, East, and Winnipeg) to two: Rural and Winnipeg.

                            II.        Entitlement to vote

Registrants may now vote for a candidate in any district. Previously, you could only vote for the candidates running in your own electoral district.

Voting closes May 5 at noon. Election results will be announced by May 6.
