Message from the Registrar

CPSM Council

On behalf of CPSM, I sincerely, thank you for the extraordinary care you continue to provide to patients across Manitoba.

Physician shortages, burnout and stress, and decreasing support and resources are taking a toll on physicians and other healthcare professionals. I hope you are taking care of yourselves as the profession continues to face these critical challenges.

As the year closes out, we thank you for engaging with CPSM on consultations, elections, audits, peer reviews, committees, and working groups throughout the year to advance patient safety. We are energized by your feedback, comments, and cooperation with CPSM this year.

We look forward to more opportunities to connect with the profession in the new year. In 2023, we will draw more attention to CPSM’s approach to quality care across all three core functions – Registration, Quality, and Complaints & Investigations.

This year, a highlight for us at CPSM is the progress made on our commitment to foster greater awareness and understanding of Indigenous perspectives among registrants, Council, and CPSM staff. Together with the Indigenous Advisory Circle, we have identified key initiatives to advance truth, justice, and reconciliation in the medical profession. We look forward to reporting on the progress we will have made at this time next year.

I hope you find time to slow down, connect with family and friends, and recharge this holiday season.

To those who will be delivering care throughout the holiday season, thank you.
