Clarification on the use of titles for Clinical Assistants

The Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA) does not currently allow for Clinical Assistants with medical degrees to use the doctor title.
We are aware there is a video clip circulating from an announcement made by the Manitoba government in July 2023, in which the Minister of Health at the time inaccurately stated that Clinical Assistants with medical degrees could begin using the doctor title.
In 2023, CPSM requested that the government update the RHPA to allow Clinical Assistants with medical degrees to use the doctor title, but the change was not granted.
If this change is made in the future, CPSM will communicate this to Clinical Assistants directly.
