Students and Graduates


Students and Graduates who are enrolled at the University of Manitoba, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, Max Rady College of Medicine must be registered with CPSM and comprises of the following:

MEDICAL STUDENTS

Medical Students at the University of Manitoba (U of M), Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, Max Rady College of Medicine must be enrolled on the Regulated Associate Member Register in the Educational (Medical Student) Class in accordance with CPSM General Regulation (see below).

CPSM General Regulation, s. 3.48

An applicant for registration as an educational (medical student) member must establish that he or she is confirmed by the Manitoba faculty to be enrolled as a medical student.

Once you have been accepted as a medical student, you will be contacted by CPSM with further instructions.

VISITING STUDENT ELECTIVES  

The Max Rady College of Medicine accepts a limited number of visiting medical students enrolled in medical schools other than the University of Manitoba for short periods of elective study. Visiting undergraduate and postgraduate trainees must be registered with CPSM for the duration of the elective. These electives are arranged and approved directly through the University of Manitoba.

How to Apply for Registration

  1. Once you have been approved for an elective, please click the button below to request an application
  2. Submit your application. Your application must be submitted at least 45 days before the elective's start date. Failure to do so may result in registration not being issued in time.

Elective students may not start an elective until CPSM has approved the application and registration has been issued.

RESIDENTS

  • If you are currently a medical student in Manitoba and have been matched to a residency training program in Manitoba, you are already a CPSM registrant and a new application is not required for you at this time. You will be prompted to renew your certificate of practice via email in mid-May. Please ensure that CPSM has your most updated email address. 
  • If you are a graduate from a Canadian medical school outside of Manitoba or if you are an International Medical Graduate and have been matched to a residency in Manitoba, CPSM will receive confirmation from the University of Manitoba Rady Faculty of Health Sciences Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) that you have been accepted into a residency training program.

Once you have been accepted into a residency training program, you will be contacted by CPSM with further instructions for registering.

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT STUDENTS

Physician Assistant Students must be enrolled on the Regulated Associate Member Register in the Educational (Physician Assistant Student) Class in accordance with CPSM General Regulation (see below).

An applicant for registration as an educational (physician assistant student) member must establish that he or she is confirmed by the Manitoba faculty to be enrolled as a physician assistant student.
