By-laws, including the Code of Ethics, are approved by Council and relate to the governance of the College.  They supplement the requirements of the College pursuant to The Regulated Health Professions Act and Regulations.  Standards of practice of Medicine which members must meet are set out in the Standards of Practice of Medicine of the College.


Pursuant to ss. 222(1) of The Regulated Health Professions Act, Council may make by-laws relating to the exercise of the powers, rights and duties conferred or imposed on the Council or the College by The Regulated Health Professions Act.  A list of the College’s Bylaws, with links to each of them follows.

Code of Ethics

The Code of Ethics forms part of the Affairs of the College and Code of Ethics Bylaw and is the primary source for the ethical obligations of physicians.

Standards of Practice of Medicine

Pursuant to ss 82(1) of the Regulated Health Professions Act Council must, by regulation, establish standards of practice to regulate the quality of practice of the members.  Standards of Practice of Medicine 

Practice Directions

Pursuant to ss. 85 of The Regulated Health Professions Act, Council may issue  Practice Directions  in respect of the practice of the regulated health profession.
