March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

The Canadian Cancer Society predicts that 970 Manitobans will be diagnosed with colorectal cancer and 340 will die from it. Of cancers that affect both men and women, colorectal cancer is the 2nd leading cause of cancer deaths in Manitoba.

But it doesn’t have to be. With regular FOBT screening, we can prevent colorectal cancer and detect it early, when over 90% of cases are treatable.

A healthcare provider’s recommendation is the most influential factor in whether an individual

decides to get screened. What can you do?

  • Talk to your patients about the importance of cancer screening.
  • Have your patients contact ColonCheck to request an FOBT. It will be mailed to their home, and once completed, you will receive a copy of the test results.
  • Contact us about the new ColonCheck requisition, so you can order an FOBT for your patients.
  • Order pamphlets, posters, and other free educational resources for your clinic.
